Children in  NeedFriday  the 14th of  November  the children at our school dressed up as their hero's to raise money for Children in Need. There was Supermen, Princesses, Teachers, Servicemen and famous singers - not forgetting the only real hero PUDSEY. We could have been on Britain's Got Talent!
We weren't really sure who the real  teachers were as they were dressed up with special appearances of Soldiers, Olympians and Batman - it was fun to take part in and I think all involved secretly enjoyed it a bit too much.....                                                            P.F    year 6.

COOKING CLUB

Last week in cooking club we made pizzas.
First we chopped onions to put in our sauce.
While someone was mixing the onions,
the other person carefully poured the tomatoes in the sauce.
After that we made our dough for the pizza.
We started of mixing to butter and the flour together,
to make small breadcrumbs and so that there was no butter left.
Then we added milk to the mix and mixed it to make to dough.
After that we all got a tin and spread the dough in the tin.
Then we added the sauce that we made all over the dough.
Then we got to try all different types of toppings.
Then we chose which toppings we would like.
Then sadly it was time to go and we cooked our pizzas at home.

DIWALI

ON THE 23RD OF OCTOBER IT WAS DIWALI. THERE WAS LIGHTS ALONG STREETS,CANDlES ON WINDOW SILLS AND DECORATIONS EVERYWHERE. LUCKILY FLECKNEY PRIMARY SCHOOL WERE LUCKY ENOUGH FOR CLAIRE KEANEY TO COME AND TALK TO US ABOUT IT. I NOW KNOW THINGS THAT I DIDN'T KNOW BEFORE. I LEARNT THAT PEOPLE THAT CELEBRATE DIWALI ARE CALLED HINDUS AND THEY WEAR THEIR BEST CLOTHES FOR DIWALI. ALSO THEY EAT DIFFERENT FOOD TO US. FOR EXAMPLE WE WOULD EAT CRISPS AND CHOCOLATE AND THEY WOULD EAT INDIAN SWEETS LIKE GULAB JAMUN AND BANNANA BASED PRODUCTS. ANOTHER WAY TO CELEBRATE DIWALI IS TO HAVE FIREWORKS. FIREWORKS MAKE LIGHT AND DIWALI IS ALL ABOUT LIGHT AND THAT'S WHY DIWALI IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHT

Tuck shop!

23 year 6 children have volunteered to help and organize a healthy tuck shop. We will sell healthy and organic snacks that children can buy at break times.

I am part of the marketing team and everyone had the enviable task of sampling some of the goodies that we will be selling.

Myself and the rest of the team attended the tuck shop course this week, which included talking about our roles and responsibilities. We are all very excited and raring to go.

Let's get cooking!

The 29th of October was the first week of let’s get cooking. The students made fruit salads and smoothies. Next week they’re going to make pizzas, I hope they have fun with that. Mrs Martin and Mrs Batson run it and they make it fun because they do tasting tests and stuff like that. They teach you some cutting methods with knifes which means everybody must behave!

Warning Zone

Warning Zone Year 6 visited Warning Zone before the half term. Every child said they had a great time learning about being safe in every day life. There were different activities within each section of Warning Zone. The thing I started in was teaching us about the dangers of trespassing and teaching us about train safety. But my favourite part was when we learned about the dangers of drinking alcohol you had to put on these goggles and sort out a shape puzzle and the people with the goggles on would find it tricky and lose. All round year six had a great time.

Open Day at Kibworth High School

On Thursday 2nd of October all the year 6 pupils went to look at Kibworth High School as they are going there next year. We saw most of the classrooms and the new uniform. We had to complete a quiz sheet in the languages classrooms (I got all the questions right!) There were activities all along the open classrooms also you could meet some of the teachers there. The science classroom was my favourite because of the experiments you could do. I made a sprinkler with iron shavings and zinc. I had an amazing time and am looking forward to starting there next year!

Macmillan coffee afternoon.

Last Friday afternoon Macmillan came to Fleckney C of E Primary School.
Some members of the FSA sold cakes to Mums, Dads, Children and Grandparents to raise money for charity. The cakes included chocolate cake, plain sponge cake and muffins with chocolate chips.
I had some of my Mum's cake which was a chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing and sprinkles on the top.
On that day the book fair was on as well because it arrived late on Tuesday.

WW1 service

The WW1 service went really well. There were three lovely readings,  one from a year six and one each from two year fives. Each reading was well thought out and each was read clearly. As well as that, lots of people said how lovely the choir sang and how well they coped when the music went funny. There were some lovely prayers and even an exciting few minutes of darkness in the middle of the service. Over all it was a wonderful service and I hope that everyone will remember it!

BOOK WEEK!

This week is BOOK WEEK at our lovely school.  I have been helping at the Scholastic book fair after school.  There are plenty of books to choose from, such as Julia Donaldson's latest book The Scarecrow's Wedding.  It has been very popular with lots of people of all ages coming and buying books.  You don't even have to buy them, you can just come and read them if you want to.  There has been an arrangement so we can have the book fair on friday as well, it's your last chance to buy!
Also the teachers have been going into other classes and reading stories to us, it's really fun.
