Every year Fleckney Primary School send Christmas cards to each other through the Fleckney Primary School Post!

Children can send Christmas cards to any person in their school, even the teachers!

This is a great way for students to communicate without parents worrying about money. As well  as sending them children can also have fun receiving them. I definitely love this idea!

Christmas dinner is always lovely and everyone has fun! the dinner ladies put some Christmas music on and before we come into the hall they put drinks on the table.

The dinner always tastes amazing. The dinner ladies sometimes pour gravy on the top. It is usually a bit like a Sunday roast.

You can also have a Christmas dinner if you don't usually have school dinners in school and you can sign up on parent mail.

Advent Service

On Monday 7th December four year six, Isaac,
Josh C, Alexi and Daisy went to Leicester Cathedral. A lot of other schools were there to. We sang carols and handed in our sheet that we filled in. We went with Mrs Allen, Mrs Binczak and Mr Baum. We also went to a cafe near the cathedral. We were given a drink and some sweets. The teachers wanted a hot drink so we went out of the big hall and went to the public one. We had 15 minutes left and had a choice to go to the Guild Hall the oldest building in Leicester or explore the Cathedral, so we decided to go to the Guild Hall from the 1500 - in fact from the Tudors! We saw all the antique wooden furniture. Did you know that glass was so very expensive, rich Tudors had it only to show off? We saw the cellar and it contained a prison and the rest of the old weapons. Once we got out we had to go back to school. In my opinion it was a very good trip and I recommend that you should visit.

Police Workshop

Last week we went into the hall to do a police workshop. They told us about some really sad stories as well as make other things really fun. On one of the things we had to do we had to get the answers  correct and then sprint up to the front and pull out a straw; if the balls dropped we lost but if they didn't we won (which we did win). Also they got the teachers involved and they showed us what it's like to be drunk compared to if you're not. So overall they showed us what to do in different situations and how to stay safe.

Year 6 went to Warning Zone  last week on Monday the 5th October.  There were 8 different zones and we got to go through all of them: water, house fire, electricity, alcohol, railway, personal safetyand arson. There was also an E-safety zone that was based on an old fair ground and we got to do lots of interactive stuff like throw an insult which is were we grab a bean bag with writing on and we talked about why it was horrible to say things about other people. Back on to the 8 zones and the first one is alcohol which was set out like a grave yard with fizzy pop and alcohol laid around the place. The volunteer gave us a pair of goggles that showed what it was like to be drunk. I think the whole day was absolutely fantastic and both classes loved it.

WARNING ZONE

The Year 6's went to Warning Zone on a Monday about 2 weeks ago. Both classes had a wonderful time. 6JO went around the 8 zones which were in the morning and 6SP went to the E-safety area then after lunch both classes swapped. the 8 zones included building sites, electricity, fire, road safety (by car, pedestrians, cyclists) alcohol, risk, personal safety, railways and water. The E-safety zone was all about knowing who your talking to on the internet and knowing how to stay safe if you do talk to people on the internet and you've never met them face to face. Also cyber bulling and bullying.  All the staff were wonderful and friendly to everyone and helped us all learn a lot and make it an amazing experience. So now we know what to do if we are in a tricky situation or don't know how to deal with things like bullying.

Explorer Academy!

On Tuesday the 15th of September, the Year 6 pupils were joined by a visitor from Explorer Academy who talked to them about being an explorer and all of the extreme conditions they have to cope with. The day was fun and highly informative and I'm sure that everyone (pupils, teachers and all) would agree that it was definitely a great success. Working together as a team was also part of the fun as the children were split into small groups and had the chance to co-operate with people that they wouldn't often get the opportunity to spend much time with. With the experience including activities ranging from dressing up as an Arctic explorer and learning how to survive in the Rainforest to looking at pictures of frostbite and even inventing a new species of animal there was never a boring moment to be had. The children were all very sad at the end of the day when the time had come to say goodbye.

to be on a stage that many professionals have been on before. My my favourite song is sailing, a nice, calm and peaceful song. my favourite part is the mad professers part.

At 9.00am on Monday the 1st of June the majority of Year 6 travelled to Caythorpe Court, Linconshire. It was incredible...

My personal favourite was the giant swing, first we put on our safety equipment, next we were stapped onto the swing, then we slowly got higher and higher and higher until we reached the top, then the swing dropped,we flew through the air really fast.It was scary but massivly fun. All throughout the week everyone had loads of fun and gave everything a go. it was an all round successful week!

Life at Fleckney school

Life at Fleckney school

I have loved and enjoyed every day of my primary school life. I am sure all my fellow year sixers are ready to move on. Though these past few years have been the highlights of our lives, we should all     look forward to the unknown times and moments to come and be proud of our effort and enthusiasm.

We will all remember the wonderful memories of our school life. I know we will never forget those
funny, exciting, fun and even those sad moments. I am sure everyone will agree that we should say
a massive thank you to all our teachers, helpers and friends that have supported and helped us along

the way. THANK YOU!

Violin lessons.

Violin lessons!

This year in year 6 many of us have taken a real interest to playing the violin and with our amazing teacher Mr Perry, many of us have done really well with our exams. From Emily B getting all the way to grade 5 and Caitlin T and I have just taken our grade 2 and are exitedly waiting to find out our results. I've had so much fun at my violin lessons and I am sad to have to leave them at fleckney school but It's lovely that Mr Perry went away with a card signed by everyone he taught (including me).

foundation stage

foundation stage

It seems like yesterday me and my Friends walked [or waddled in fright] through the school gates for are first day at fleckney primary school. 7 years later were still learning things we'll need to know when we turn in to adults.

In foundation stage we went to the farm park. It was really fun feeding the lambs and seeing the pig race, we also made loads of things in art. phonics was my favourite because we went on the computers. Every year 6 will miss Fleckney.

De Montfort Hall

De Montfort Hall
An exiting happening is here in year 6. 25 children have been selected (including me) to perform in De Montfort Hall with thousands of people watching them.  Our teacher is called lovely Mrs Ramshaw with the help of a mad Professor - who is crazy - a drummer and a pianist. I am sure it will go well after the thrilling practises we've done and am sure it will be an unforgetable performance.

My Time at Fleckney

It seems like yesterday I waddled in frighten through the school gates for the first time. But now we're year 6 we are still learning what we should of learnt 7 years ago. I remember when I started we did fast phonics and played with toys and we saw chicks hatch and looked after them.

SATS

So about a week ago we did the SATS test and it was easy because e had already done all the preparation for it and it was really fun. On the last day we did a test for Kibworth High School and I think the hardest bit was the 80 word spelling test! But the best bit was when we all banged on the tables and shouted so that the rest of the school knew that we were finished.

Last week the choir preformed six songs in the hall in front of the childrens parents. As well as this, the choir had the privilege of being able to play their own CD which Mr Heaney recorded for them! All the children and parents had a wonderful time thanks to Miss Hamilton. Do not forget the wonderful Mrs Goode who helped during the concert.

YEAR 6 CRICKET

On the 23rd of April a group of year sixes started cricket training with Mr O'Connell and Mr Ager. I was one of the lucky ones to take part.
Last week we divided in to two groups and did target practise by trying to hit the stumps. After that we did some rotation cricket. This is where a pair are batting and the fielders take it in turns to bowl.
It was lovely weather to play in and it was really fun to do!!!

Year 6 Art

In Art we have brought tee-shirts to paint on! We were learning about saving the rainforest and the animals living there in Geography. We decided to link the rainforest in Art and the best way to warn people about the how we are destroying the rainforest is to draw on our tee-shirts (that we brought in) and do the cat-walk in Assembly! I hope you will think of a way you could help save the rainforest?

Basketball with the Leicester Riders

Basketball with the Leicester Riders

Basketball with the Leicester Riders was VERY fun. One of the Leicester Riders players was there his name was Tyler Bernardini. At first he watched us dribble the basket ball up the playground and around the cone and bounce pass to the person behind us the first team to finish won. After that we did 2 on 2 with the first two people in the line would defend and the next two would attack and try to score a goal. Then the attackers would become defenders and the first person would be a defender and the next three would attack so it was 3 on 3.

For the rest of the lesson we played 3 on 3 as we enjoyed it so much.  So this week I suppose we will enjoy it even more! :)
